Senator Laura Ebke of Crete, chair of the Nebraska legislature’s Judiciary Committee, says the lawsuit filed over prison crowding by the ACLU came as no surprise.
Ebke says the legislature and the Ricketts Administration have moved to address the prison population, but she worries about how strong a case the state can make

Ebke says the ACLU backed off of a threat to file a lawsuit when, in 2015, the legislature worked on prison reform measures

Ebke holds out hope the state can address some of the issues brought up in the lawsuit if past legislation reduces prison populations in the next six months or so.
