A state senator says Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman cannot escape responsibility for the prison miscalculation scandal.
Senator Ernie Chambers of Omaha claims Heineman has attempted to say he didn’t create the mess, but stepped in to clean it up. . .

Chambers charges that state agencies failed to ask for the money they needed to do their jobs, because Heineman had pressured them to keep their budgets in check.

Members of the state legislative committee that investigated the prison sentence miscalculation scandal say they hope the Unicameral seriously considers its conclusions.
Committee chairman, Senator Steve Lathrop of Omaha, denies the committee was out to get the governor. . .

Other members of the committee say they plan to use the findings to draft legislation to be considered in the next session.
