A bill dealing with juvenile justice reform that has bounced back and forth between the House and Senate came to a full stop Wednesday.

The bill originally would have made changes to the reform plan passed in 2015 to allow schools more latitude in dealing with disruptive students. It was later amended to call for a summer study of the issue.

Senator Lee Schoenbeck of Watertown there is no backing for making the rules tougher….

Schoenbeck says a study of the bill this summer would be a waste of time….

Senator Troy Heinert of Mission says the legislature should make the extra effort….

The conference committee report was rejected by the Senate on a vote of eighteen to seventeen.
