Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he intends to pass all FY21 appropriations bills before December 11. Included in that is the Ag funding bill. North Dakota Senator John Hoeven is the Ag Subcommittee chair for appropriations and says it’s a strong funding measure. North Dakota Farm Bureau’s Director of Public Policy Pete Hanebutt says Hoeven and his group have come up with good legislation.

He says having the Ag Appropriations legislation fully funded for farm loan programs is very important for farmers and ranchers who have had to deal with the COVID 19 pandemic.

Hanebutt says getting all these measures approved before December 11 may be a tough lift but the Senate has moved forward before in the past to get things done.

Hanebutt says the FY 21 Ag Appropriations bill not only fully funds farm loan programs, it also bolsters future agricultural research and supports rural innovation.
