Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley is working with Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota on preparing for an upcoming Judiciary Committee Hearing examining the broken cattle markets and concentration issues hurting independent cattle producers. Grassley says although there’s no specific date yet for the hearing it’ll likely happen sometime this month and will focus on antitrust concerns with the big four meat packers.

He says they intend to hear from all sides of the issue and has been encouraged by the direction being taken by Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin.

Grassley says the Committee will be listening to concerns from all parts of the cattle industry.

Grassley says besides working with Senator Durbin, he’s also been engaged with Senator Klobuchar who chairs the sub-committee on antitrust.
