Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt said this week that both the tax credits for wind and solar energy should be eliminated. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, Finance Committee member says Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin disagrees with that and says they should be phased out as both wind and solar energy officials recommended.

He says the phase out or transition of those credits is already planned and is hopeful that’ll be part of the tax reform legislation the Senate will consider.

Grassley says the phase out already meets what’s needed for both the wind and solar energy industries and he says Mnuchin agrees with that.

Grassley says next week following the Congressional recess, a budget resolution will be ironed out which is the precursor towards getting the tax reform bill moving. He expects those tax credits to be part of that discussion.
