Senate Finance Member Criticizes President For Moving Too Slowly On Trade

Senate Finance Committee member Chuck Grassley of Iowa is criticizing President Joe Biden for not pushing ahead with trade. He says he hadn’t said anything for several months letting the President get his feet wet but now with several opportunities to advance trade there doesn’t seem to be any movement at all. Grassley was asked if the recent weekend agreement where the U.S. lifted aluminum tariffs against the E.U. and they in turn lifted up retaliatory measures would give the US.. a starting point for possible FTA talks.

Grassley says he’s been patient enough with the Biden administration as it comes to trade and now with little or no movement, it’s time for the President to get going on potential fruitful discussions with either the U.K. E.U. or getting to phase two of the deal already negotiated with China.

The Senate Finance Committee is the Congressional panel that deals with trade agreements and works with the U.S. Trade Representatives office on policy
