Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa remains optimistic following recent trade talks with China despite the recent round of tariffs and retaliation. He says the fact more talks are scheduled for next month is a good sign despite President Donald Trump holding their feet to the fire when it comes to obeying world trade rules.

He says the President made the correct move by calling the Chinese on the carpet for manipulating their currency which makes their products cheaper on the world market and ours more expensive.

Grassley says as long as the Chinese stay at the negotiating table and keep talking, there’s a chance to resolve the trade war.

After President Trump announced another round of tariffs on China, the Chinese retaliated by halting any imports of U.S. goods. Trade talks however are still slate d for September.
