The Senate could take up major tax legislation this week that would benefit agriculture. Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden says a bill he introduced to deal with tax reform in a two-step process easily passed out of his committee and moves on to the full Senate. He says it would first deal with extending tax provisions that expired at the end of 2013 such as the biodiesel tax incentive.
In fact, Wyden says he wants to use the passage of this extender bill as a springboard for major tax reform.
He says tax policy reform and the timetable for the extenders bill were derailed at the end of 2013 with the focus turning towards Obama Care.
