Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley told farm reporters Thursday that 2020 has been a tenuous year for renewable fuels. He says ethanol demand has been hurt by the pandemic and gap year waiver requests for refiners has created a lot of questions.

He says the EPA Administrator announced this week they have not proposed a rule to get out the renewable fuel volume obligations for refiners for 2021 even though those are due this month.

Grassley says the EPA Chief needs to get the RVOs for 2021 out as soon as possible and to follow the RFS. He says if he fails to do that, it’s time for him to resign.

Grassley says Administrator Wheeler’s comments on RINS don’t match EPA’s own studies which have shown that RINS don’t harm refinerys.
