The U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee is holding a field hearing in Glenwood, Iowa on Wednesday. Nebraska Farm Bureau Director of National Affairs Jordan Dux says the panel is reviewing Missouri River management by the Corps and looking at the current flooding situation in Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri. He says there are several questions that need to be answered.

He expects the Committee to take a closer look at the flooding damage resulting from the Spencer Dam breaking on the Niobrara River.

Dux says the Committee needs to make sure the Corps includes flood prevention in their Missouri River Manual.

Dux says they’ll follow up with the Senate Committee on river management and flood damage. They’re also talking to the House Ways and Means Committee about what help can be provided to flood victims.
