Senate Ag Committee Member Jerry Moran of Kansas says the committee is working to move cotton and dairy back into the new farm bill through the Disaster Appropriations Bill. The House sent a disaster bill over to the Senate which they took no action on, but instead are working on their own approach.
He says if they can come to an agreement ahead of time on cotton and dairy it will streamline the farm bill process.
Moran says including cotton and dairy in the approps bill will also give them more money to write the farm bill with.
Moran says there has been a lot of controversy regarding the cotton disaster program, but he thinks it’s important for the entire agricultural industry to include it.
