This week the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee held a hearing on the Renewable Fuel Standard. That committee has jurisdiction over the RFS and its chairman Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma wants to see it repealed. American Coalition for Ethanol Executive Vice President Brian Jennings says it’s just one of many recent attacks on the RFS that won’t go anywhere.
He says ethanol and RFS supporters have a major ally on the committee in ranking member Senator Barbara Boxer of California. She spoke up for the RFS at the hearing.
Jennings says the odds of getting the RFS repealed are slim because it will get bogged down by election year politics, and the votes simply are not there.
Jennings says they also have the support of other committee members including Senators Deb Fischer of Nebraska and Senator Mike Rounds of South Dakota.
