The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will hold a hearing today to consider a bill that would provide a waiver to lift the Reid Vapor Pressure Rule. Farm state Senators, including Iowa’s Chuck Grassley, are co-sponsoring the measure to allow year-round sales of E15.
Grassley says summer sales of E15 would create jobs and be positive for consumers.
He expects the committee to mark up the bill next week, but it may not be voted on until later in the year. Grassley says it’s too late to get the legislation implemented for the summer driving season anyway.
Nebraska Congressman Adrian Smith has introduced companion legislation in the House.
