This week the Senate Banking Committee defeated an amendment that tried to gut the Renewable Fuel Standard. Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Executive Director Monte Shaw credits the efforts of two Midwest Senators in leading the charge to defeat the efforts of Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey.
Shaw says this committee vote sends a clear message to the EPA that Congress wants to move ahead with a strong Renewable Fuel Standard.
Shaw says he expects more attacks in Congress on the RFS but doesn’t think they’ll get much traction.
He says the actions by the Senate Banking Committee is a big win for consumers, the environment and rural communities.
