Tuesday the Senate Foreign Relations committee approved the confirmation of Iowa Governor Terry Branstad as Ambassador to China and sent it to the full Senate. Iowa Soybean Association President Rolland Schnell is pleased with committee approval. He says once Branstad becomes Ambassador he’ll be able to help U.S. agriculture.

He says as Ambassador, Branstad will be in a position to build the existing market in China and develop new opportunities.

Schnell says once Branstad becomes Ambassador, his group hopes to arrange a meeting with him in China.

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says he thinks the Senate confirmation vote could come as early as next week.
