Senate Agriculture Committee To Hold Hearing On Grassley-Fischer Bill

Next week, the U.S. House and Senate Agriculture Committees will listen to testimony regarding the Grassley-Fischer bill on price discovery and transparency with cattle marketing.  Both Senators serve on the Senate Agriculture Committee.  Representatives from Tyson, Cargill, JBS, and National Beef will be in Washington to offer testimony.  Senator Chuck Grassley says he’ll ask the meat company officials what are their thoughts to the bill he has authored, but says he already knows their answer.  Grassley feels confident his bill will pass the Senate Agriculture Committee since Chair Debbie Stabenow understands the issue, and is anxious to have a bill go through the Agriculture Committee.  However, he is not certain of the bill’s fate in the House Agriculture Committee.  Those hearings are scheduled for next Tuesday and Wednesday.
