The Senate Agriculture Committee has scheduled a hearing on May 26 to look at the state of the U.S. livestock industry. United States Cattlemen’s Association President Danni Beer says they were one of the groups that asked for the hearing and they’re pleased the committee will examine the market volatility that’s negatively impacting the cattle industry.

Beer is also hoping the Committee will address the concerns cattle producers have regarding anti-competitive practices and restore GIPSA funding that’s been stripped from the appropriations legislation

Beer says her group also wants the Senate Ag Committee to look into the effects of not having country of origin labeling in place.
