The makeup of the Ag Committees will not change much with the new Congress, but their agricultural agenda will be a more aggressive one. South Dakota Senator John Thune serves on the Senate Ag Committee and says they’ll hit the ground running on several of their priorities right after the first of the year.
He says they will also start laying the ground work and holding some initial hearings on the next farm bill.
And Thune hopes the new farm program is more aggressive on conservation.
Senate Ag Committee Ranking Minority Member Debbie Stabenow says Senator Chris Van Hollen will be a new Democratic member of the committee.
