A U.S. Commission on Civil Rights report on how best to balance claims of religious liberty with emergency civil rights leaves a Nebraska U.S. senator disturbed by its conclusion.
Senator Ben Sasse says the reports displays a disturbingly low view of religious freedom

The commission chairman writes the phrases ‘religious liberty’ and ‘religious freedom’ will stand for nothing except hypocrisy if they remain code words for discrimination, intolerance, homophobia, or Christian supremacy; among others.
Sasse says the commission has a strong history, but the recent report demonstrates how its focus has stayed and poses a profound threats to the historic American understanding of the First Amendment.
