Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse is defending Attorney General Jeff Sessions against rumors President Trump might fire him.
Trump has criticized Sessions for recusing himself from the Department of Justice’s investigation into allegations Trump colluded with Russia during the 2016 election.
Sasse, on the Senate floor, told colleagues Sessions is serving the country, not playing politics.
Sasse, a member of the Judiciary Committee, says he cannot see voting for a successor to Sessions if Trump fires him over a political dispute.
Sasse says Sessions has served honorably as Attorney General.
