After receiving criticism for her key vote to confirm Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer says she takes constituent input very seriously.
Fischer says she voted for DeVos after securing promises DeVos would respect local control. Fischer says she knew some constituents strongly opposed DeVos. . .
Fischer says she considers those opinions as well as the testimony of the nominee before she casts her vote.
But, Fischer says all nominees attract criticism, even former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue who some Midwestern farm groups view suspiciously, because of the big difference in Southern agriculture. . .
Nomination hearings for Perdue have not been set yet.
