A state senator who sponsored the legislation authorizing self-driving vehicles in Nebraska says the bill grew broader than she first imagined possible.
Senator Anna Wishart of Lincoln says she began with a bill authorizing a pilot program for autonomous vehicles in the city of Lincoln only. . .

The pilot program expanded during legislative floor debate into authorizing autonomous vehicles to operate across Nebraska.
Wishart says the legislature’s action sends a signal to the rest of the country. . .

A self-driving shuttle is giving the public rides on a short track at the University of Nebraska Innovation Campus in Lincoln.
Lincoln is in the running for a 1-to-5 Million dollar grant to fund a downtown autonomous shuttle which can be scheduled through an app on a cell phone.
