South Dakota senior guard Nicole Seekamp has been named the Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period ended Jan. 21.
Seekamp collects the award for the fourth time this season.
The weekly award is the seventh of the senior’s career. Seekamp averaged 18.5 points, eight assists and 6.5 rebounds in the final two regular season home games for the Coyotes. She shot 42.3 percent (11-of-26) from the field and 86.7 percent (13-of-15) at the free-throw line.
Seekamp tallied a double-double with 21 points and 10 assists in Saturday’s win over South Dakota State, which put the Coyotes in sole possession of first place. She added five rebounds and four steals. The Coyotes posted its first regular season sweep over in-state rival SDSU since the 1989-90 season.
The Renmark, South Australia, native also scored 16 points with eight rebounds and six assists in Thursday’s victory over Western Illinois.
Seekamp was also named the College Sports Madness Summit League Player of the Week.
