University of South Dakota senior guard Nicole Seekamp was named the Summit League’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.

It’s the first time this season and third time in her career she has earned the honor. The award was the final weekly honor of the 2014-15 season.

Seekamp recorded 13 points, five assists and four steals in USD’s league regular season title clinching 69-53 win over IUPUI on Thursday. She followed up with 20 points, nine assists, six rebounds and four steals in USD’s 78-75 win on Saturday over Western Illinois. The win over Western Illinois clinched the top-seed in the Summit League Tournament, which starts on Saturday.

For the week, Seekamp averaged 16.5 points, seven assists, four steals and 3.5 rebounds per game. She also had an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.8.

Seekamp will leave South Dakota with bookend league Player of the Week honors. After sitting out her freshman year during the 2011-12 season, she was awarded the first Player of the Week honor of the 2012-13 season on Nov. 12, 2012.

The top-seeded Coyotes (23-6, 13-3) will open the Summit League Tournament against eighth-seeded Fort Wayne (9-20, 3-13) at noon on Saturday in the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The game will be aired live on MidcoSN and ESPN3.com.
