The second round of trade talks between the United States and the United Kingdom get underway today (Monday). National Cattlemen’s Beef Associations’ Vice President of Government Affairs Ethan Lane says it’s positive those are moving ahead and that so far progress has been good.

He says if the U.S. can get a successful deal with the U.K., it will definitely help with other trade discussions including those with the European Union which have recently stalled.

Lane says the U.K.. likes U.S. beef and getting a trade pact with them will be beneficial for both the U.S. and U.K. and hopefully in the future with the E.U.

USTR Robert Lighthizer’s goal is to reach a comprehensive agreement with the United Kingdom and Lane says that would be the best outcome.
