Many years ago Sears was considered a leading innovator in the retail world. Now, they’re closing many of their stores including their St. Cloud Minnesota location in January. Louis Johnston is an economics professor at the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University and says Sears missed the mark years ago when they chose to focus on their brick and mortar stores
Johnston says in order for other big department stores to stay alive, they’ll need to reinvent themselves and focus on specific niches — items you can’t find anywhere on-line.
