After winning its ninth Summit League Championship in 11 years, the No. 6 seed South Dakota State women’s basketball team (26-6) plays No. 11 seed Quinnipiac (26-6) Saturday at 10:15 a.m. in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Women’s Tournament at the Carrier Dame in Syracuse, New York.
Joining the Jackrabbits in the Portland Region are No. 3 seed and host Syracuse and 14th-seeded Fordham. With two wins in New York, State would advance to the Sweet 16 in Portland, Oregon, March 29 and 31.
Winners of its last 16 games, SDSU won its ninth championship title with an 83-71 victory over second-seeded and in-state rival South Dakota March 12. Two-time Summit League Player of the Year and three-time Championship MVP Macy Miller led two Jackrabbits in double figures with a game-high 30 points and 11 rebounds.
