The South Dakota State University women’s basketball team used a 15-2 run to open Thursday night’s contest and never looked back in recording an 80-52 win over Denver at Frost Arena in Summit League play.
The Jackrabbits, now 22-4 overall and 12-1 in league play, were led by junior guard Kerri Young (Mitchell) and her game-high 15 points. Young scored SDSU’s first five points as it rolled to a 24-4 lead after the first quarter.
Sophomore forward Ellie Thompson (Chaska, Minn.) added 14 points while sophomore guard Macy Miller (Mitchell) and freshman guard Madison Guebert (Apple Valley, Minn.) scored 13 and 12 points, respectively. Junior forward Clarissa Ober (Glencoe, Minn.) snared a game-high 11 rebounds and recorded a game- and career-high 4 assists.
South Dakota State held a 41-26 advantage in rebounds and forced Denver into committing 23 turnovers. The Jackrabbits sank 10 3-point field goals, marking the sixth time this season, and second consecutive game, it has made 10-or-more 3-pointers.
Denver, 4-12 and 2-12, was led by Paige Bradley’s 13 points.
