The South Dakota State University women’s basketball team won its 900th overall game by recording a 60-48 victory over Oral Roberts Thursday night in front of 1,658 fans at Frost Arena in The Summit League action. 

The Jackrabbits, now 20-4 and 10-1 in league play, were led by Macy Miller’s (Mitchell) game-high 14 points. Sophomore Ellie Thompson (Chaska, Minn.) added 11 points while junior Clarissa Ober (Glencoe, Minn.) snared 11 rebounds and blocked 4 shots to go with 9 points. 

Oral Roberts, 11-13, 8-4, got nine points each from Maria Martianez and Jordan Doyle. 

South Dakota State, which has now won 20-or-more games 19 times in its 50-year history, opened the game on a 16-3 run. Miller sank a 3-point field goal with 4:32 remaining in the opening quarter for the 16-3 lead. The Jacks, who held a 21-5 lead after a Thompson 3-pointer, led 21-7 at the end of the quarter. 

Oral Roberts cut the lead to seven points twice, the last coming with 37 seconds remaining in the half at 31-24 when Doyle scored. SDSU held a 33-24 halftime lead behind Miller’s 10 points. 

South Dakota State used an 11-2 run to open the third quarter for a 44-26 lead on a Kerri Young (Mitchell) 3-pointer with 1:18 to play in the stanza. 

Ober gave the Jackrabbits their biggest lead, 22 points at 57-35, by making two free throws with 5:14 to play. 

The Jackrabbits return to action at 2 p.m. Saturday against Fort Wayne in the Think Pink game.
