South Dakota State battled through heavy winds to take control of first place at the conclusion of the second round of The Summit League Women’s Golf Championship at ArborLinks Golf Course in Nebraska City, Neb., on Monday.

South Dakota State (611) owns a 2-stroke lead over defending League champion Denver (613) entering the final round of play. This marks the first time that the Pioneers have trailed in the tournament since joining The Summit League in 2013.

South Dakota State’s Megan Mingo maintains a 3-stroke lead after she shot a second round 80. Her teammate Teresa Toscano moved up two spots after firing a 77, and is now tied for second after Denver’s Jessica Carty finished the round 8-over par (80).

The wind was no factor for North Dakota State’s Natalie Roth as she fired the rounds lowest score of the day (74) to move up 12 spots and into a tie for fourth. She enters the final round of tournament play tied with IUPUI’s Aneta Abrahamova (78) and Denver’s Sophie Newlove (79).
