Sophomore forward Clarissa Ober (Glencoe, Minn.) scored a career-high 21 points to lead the South Dakota State University women’s basketball team to an 89-68 win over IPFW Sunday afternoon in  Frost Arena.

 

The victory is the Jackrabbits’ fourth straight and seventh consecutive in Frost Arena as they improve to 16-7 overall and 7-3 in Summit League play. IPFW falls to 8-16 and 2-9.

 

Ober, who surpassed her previous career high by scoring 14 first-half points, was one of four Jackrabbits to score in double figures. Senior forward Mariah Clarin (Princeton, Minn.) scored 16 points and snared a game-high 6 rebounds. Sophomore Kerri Young (Mitchell) added 15 points while freshman Ellie Thompson (Chaska, Minn.) third her career high with 13 points and made a career-high 4 steals in her first career start.

 

Haley Seibert led the Mastodons with 18 points.

 

The Jackrabbits went on a 13-0 run midway threw the first half to take a 33-16 lead with 6:35 to play on a three-point field goal by Ober. South Dakota State pushed the lead to 24 points, 54-30, on a three-point field goal by junior guard Chloe Cornemann (Yankton).

 

The Jackrabbits’ 54 first-half points were the most since scoring 55 points against then-12th ranked Penn State, Dec. 11, 2013.

 

Clarin opened the second half by scoring six-straight points and the Jackrabbits were not threatened.

 

South Dakota State starts a three-game road trip at Denver Wednesday at 8 p.m. Central.
