SDSU Women Earn Tenth

Senior Gabrielle Boever led the South Dakota State women’s basketball team in a 58-45 win over Bowling Green in a nonconference game in front of 2,175 fans at the Stroh Center.

The Jackrabbits, 10-3, were led by Boever’s (Worthington, Minn.) season-high 13 points. The guard also collected six rebounds, two assists, a career-high three blocks and three steals. Junior Clarissa Ober (Glencoe, Minn.) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

Bowling Green, 4-5, was led by Sydney Lambert with 14 points and Miriam Justinger with 11 points.

South Dakota State opened the second half on a 12-0 run with Ober scoring twice and four other Jackrabbits scoring. SDSU built a 15-point lead, 42-27, with 1:22 to play in the third quarter on an Alexi Alexander (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) jumper.

The Falcons got as close as nine points, 46-37, at 6:011 on a layup by Rachel Meyers. The Jackrabbits led the rest of the way.

In the first half, the Jacks trailed by four, 17-13, at 7:04 before Boever had a layup, Alexander had a runner and a Boever 3-pointer to put SDSU up 20-17 with just under four minutes. Lambert hit a 3-pointer before half to pull within in, 20-19, at halftime.

The Jackrabbits return to action Dec. 30 when they open Summit League play at Denver at 8 p.m.
