Senior guard Kerri Young led the South Dakota State University women’s basketball team with 13 points but it was not enough as the Jackrabbits suffered an 83-30 road loss to No. 8 Louisville Wednesday night.

Senior Clarissa Ober led the Jackrabbits, 8-3, with nine rebounds.

Louisville, 9-2, was led by Jazmine Jones’ 15 points and Myisha Hines-Allen and Sydney Zambrotta added 10 points each.

After spotting Louisville an 11-0 lead to open the game, junior Tiffaney Flaata scored four-straight points and Young sank a 3-pointer to cut the Cardinals’ lead to four, 11-7, with 3:56 left. A 6-2 run to finish the quarter put Louisville up 17-9.

Louisville continued its run in the second quarter scoring the first four points. SDSU cut the lead to nine, 23-14, at 5:39 on a Young layup. The Cardinals then scored the final 15 points of the half.

The Jackrabbits were limited to 16 points in the second half.
