A pair of players from both South Dakota State and South Dakota dominated the weekly football honors from the Missouri Valley Football Conference this week.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week
WR Cade Johnson, South Dakota State
5-10, 180, So., Papillion, Neb. (Bellevue West High)
Johnson tied a Jackrabbit single-game school record with four touchdown receptions while also setting career bests of nine receptions and 138 receiving yards in South Dakota State’s 45-14 season-opening home win over Montana State on Sept. 8.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week
QB Austin Simmons, South Dakota
6-1, 215, Jr., Council Bluffs, Iowa (Lewis Central HS)
Completed 31 of 40 passes for a career-high 462 yards – third-most in program history – and accounted for five touchdowns in South Dakota’s 43-28 win against Northern Colorado Saturday. He was also the game’s leading rusher with 80 yards on eight carries and a touchdown.

Had seven tackles including two sacks and three tackles-for-loss in the Coyotes’ 43-28 win against Northern Colorado Saturday.

6-3, 210, Sr., Yankton, S.D. (Yankton High)
Hale punted four times for an average of 48.0 yards as South Dakota State won the battle of field position early before cruising to a 45-14 season-opening victory over Montana State.
