South Dakota State finished third and South Dakota fourth in the Summit League women’s golf championship which wrapped up Tuesday in Nebraska City, Nebraska.
North Dakota State held off a furious Denver rally to win the team title with 888 strokes. Denver tallied 892 strokes, after beginning the day 13 shots behind NDSU. South Dakota State placed third with 904 strokes followed by USD’s 927. The field rounded out with Western Illinois fifth, Oral Roberts sixth, Omaha seventh and Fort Wayne eighth.
Sophie Newlove of Denver won a three-golfer playoff for individual medalist honors. She topped Natalie Roth of NDSU and Teresa Toscano of SDSU in the playoff. All three golfers finished with 217 strokes over the three rounds.
