The South Dakota State University Dairy Judging Team placed third and had the top individual at the World Dairy Expo Intercollegiate Judging Contest this week in Madison, Wisconsin. Senior dairy production and ag business major Kirby Krogstad won top honors, but he says the team honor was the most gratifying.
Krogstad says the team was up against the top schools in the country in what is regarded as the Super Bowl of dairy cattle judging, and the competition was fierce.
He says it took many hours of hard work and practice for the team to get to this level and it speaks well of the dairy program at SDSU.
Krogstad says he grew up on a dairy farm in South Dakota and got his start in dairy cattle judging in FFA.
