The South Dakota Department of Agriculture has new labeling for dicamba herbicide products for postemergent use on Xtend “dicamba tolerant” soybeans for the 2018 growing season. This includes Engenia, Fexapan, and Xtendimax. SDSU Extension Weed Science Coordinator Paul Johnson says there are several changes to the label over last year. The most important involve application restrictions related to weather and sensitive adjacent crops.
He says its key producers clean their sprayers thoroughly before applying any dicamba product to avoid contamination.
Johnson says the state label rules follow federal guidelines which made dicamba a restricted use herbicide.
Johnson says farmers can view the 24 application recommendations at SDSU’s I-Grow website.
