South Dakota State pushed its unbeaten streak to three games with a double overtime, golden-goal 1-0 victory at North Dakota on Wednesday.
Nearing the end of the second overtime, the Jackrabbits’ Nicole Hatcher took possession on the right side of the box and fired a high cross to the far post, where Kyli Nelson was waiting for her first goal of the season to give SDSU the win
. “Playing three games in six days, two of which being overtime, is a difficult task,” head coach Lang Wedemeyer. “I was very proud of how our players kept grinding it out to get a result today. These tight games will be good preparation for the challenging games we’ll face later this season.” SDSU (2-2-1) and UND (1-3-1) were even with shots for the day, 12-all, though the Jackrabbits had eight shots on goal and the Fighting Hawks mustered just three.
