The South Dakota Board of Regents has approved lowering tuition rates for students from Iowa to in state levels.
South Dakota State University President David Chicoine says they have seen the effects of rising tuition rates on out of state students….
The in state rates for Iowa students would be available at SDSU, the University of South Dakota, Dakota State University and Northern State University.
Chicoine says while rates for Iowa students will go down, it means they need more of them on campus to avoid losing money….
Chicoine says the universities have seen good results with other similar tuition breaks…..
The Regents also approved a tuition freeze for the next school year at their recent meeting in Rapid City.
