The South Dakota Farmers Union’s collegiate club at South Dakota State University has decided to honor former U.S.Senator Larry Pressler by sponsoring him for the SDSU HOBOE days homecoming parade. Pressler who’s running as an Independent candidate for the U.S. Senate this year will take part in the parade which is Saturday October 25 in Brookings. Collegiate Club President Myles Bialas says Pressler was denied entry in the parade earlier due to lack of a sponsor so his group moved forward in providing the needed sponsorship.
Bialas says another reason they decided to sponsor the former Senator was his previous long service on the South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation.
Besides is support for Farmers Union, Pressler has also been active in backing South Dakota and National 4H programs.
