The current Trade War between China and the United States has hurt America’s farmers and ranchers in the pocketbook. The effects on South Dakota agriculture have been negative. That’s according to Matt Diersen, SDSU Extension Risk Business Management Specialist.
He says dealing with market fluctuations has been difficult for producers with the ongoing Trade War. Diersen says it’s important to take a longer look at what’s happening and what can possibly be done when marekting.
Diersen says one mitigating factor to the Trade War are beneficial crop conditions in some areas.
Diersen says if market prices drop due to the Trade War, one thing Northern Plains farmers have going for them is most have revenue protection crop insurance.
