South Dakota State director of athletics Justin Sell has accepted the resignation of head volleyball coach Phil McDaniel.

“I have accepted the resignation of coach McDaniel. We appreciate his service to South Dakota State,” Sell said. “Phil is a genuinely good guy who cares about South Dakota State, the student-athletes and the Brookings community. We wish him well in his future endeavors.”

“I appreciate the opportunities I was afforded here at SDSU,” McDaniel said. “This is a great school with a bright future.”

South Dakota State finished the 2014 season 6-27 overall and 0-16 in The Summit League. McDaniel ends his career at SDSU with a 40-82 overall record in four seasons as head coach.
