The 51st annual Beef Bowl was held at South Dakota State University in Brookings over the weekend. SDSU President Barry Dunn says the event provides the chance to celebrate the beef industry and support the next generation of leaders in the field.

Dunn is a former cattle producer and he says the beef industry has a huge economic impact in South Dakota, with the quality second to none.

SDSU Animal Science Department Head Joe Cassady says they served around 3,000 people at the annual barbeque and the proceeds will support student scholarships.

The Friend of the Beef Industry was also awarded to Craig Dybedahl with Zoetis for over 30 years of work with cattle producers.

More than 15,800 people attended the Beef Bowl game against Drake and the Jackrabbits easily took home the win by a score of 51-10.
