A doubleheader at Frost Arena Friday night opens the basketball season for both the South Dakota State women’s and men’s teams.
Both games can be heard on 570 WNAX.
Coming off its 11th consecutive postseason trip and 20th 20-win season, the South Dakota State women’s basketball team opens its 52nd basketball campaign when it hosts Atlantic Sun member NJIT at 6 p.m.
The Jackrabbits, 23-9 last season, defeated MSU-Moorhead, 93-58, Oct. 26 and Northern State, 71-59, Nov. 2 in exhibition games. NJIT is coming off an 11-19 season.
South Dakota State hosts UC Irvine in the men’s 2017-18 season opener. Tipoff is set for 8:15 p.m. after the conclusion of the women’s season opener.
The Jackrabbits enter the campaign as the Summit League’s preseason top pick after earning the league’s automatic bid a year ago to the NCAA Tournament.
UC Irvine is coming off a successful 2016-17 campaign that saw the team go 21-15 with a 12-4 record in Big West play.
