A pair of South Dakota State University athletes have earned weekly conference awards for swimming and wrestling.
— Emily Campbell has been named the Summit League Swimmer of the Week, as announced by league officials Tuesday afternoon.
Campbell had three top-two finishes, including two wins against Nebraska over the weekend.
The Aberdeen native won the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.07 and the 200 in 2:22.90. Campbell also took second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.87 and was a part of the second-place 200 medley relay team (1:50.03). Both of Campbell’s times in the breaststroke rank third in the league, while her 200 IM time is sixth.
— Senior Cody Pack has been named the Western Wrestling Conference Wrestler of the Week, as announced by conference officials Tuesday afternoon.
Pack went 4-0 at the 22nd Annual Warren Williamson/Daktronics Open on Sunday. The two-time NCAA qualifier recorded two tech. falls en route to his first Dak Open title after losing in the championship bout the previous two seasons.
Following a first-round bye, Pack beat Minot State’s Devin Combs and Nebraska’s Austin Chuancey 21-4 and 18-0, respectively.
The reigning WWC champ took down two Arizona State foes to cap off his title as he beat Joel Smith 5-2 in the semis and Gene Pierce in the finals.
