The South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) is inviting nonprofits and units of local government to submit applications for funding from the Emergency Solutions Grant Program.

Director of Rental Housing Development with SDHDA, Lorraine Polak

Polak says the ESG program can help with a number of services

Polak says that could be a security deposit, utility deposit or rental deposit. She says the recipient agency needs to ensure those looking for eligibility meet certain HUD requirements, such as being homeless, or are on the verge of becoming homeless

Polak says there is also a requirement for the recipient agency to have some kind of “case manager” in place to ensure the applicants receive help to get back on their feet
