South Dakota Farmers Union members are at work with their policy priorities they intend to take to their National Convention March 1 and 2. The meeting will be held virtually so they’ve already been holding meetings to talk about those issues. President Doug Sombke says much of what they want to see addressed is better competition for cattle markets, pandemic aid and ways to address food security needs.
He’s hoping the incoming Biden administration will help them achieve many of their policy goals but also realize many of those rest with the courts.
Sombke says as far as pandemic assistance goes, several of the grant programs that have been put in place to help with that need better and more stringent rules.
Sombke says they have seven delegates who will be participating in their National Convention. They include: Bill Chase of Wolsey, Hank Wonnenberg of Dallas, Rob Lee of De Smet, Jeff Kippley of Aberdeen, Jenae Hansen of Redfield, Gerri Eide of Gettysburg and Rachel Kippley of Aberdeen
