South Dakota Dairy Producers Association President Marv Post was in Washington D.C. last week meeting with government agency officials and members of Congress to discuss major dairy issues. He says they talked about the farm bill implementation and the dairy program, as well as milk labeling and trade. Post says they’re looking forward to the roll out of the Dairy Margin Coverage program in the farm bill with sign up set for June.

He says they also want enforcement of the milk labeling law that’s already on the books and supported in the Dairy Pride Act legislation.

Post says his group wants ratification of the USMCA and he had a chance to meet with Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa about that.

Post says one of the key issues concerning ratification of the USMCA is making sure the Section 232 steel and aluminum tariffs are lifted so that deal can go forward.
