South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association officials are concerned with the expansion of the beef checkoff lawsuit filed by R-CALF. Cattlemen’s Executive Director Jodie Anderson says the challenge has added 13 more states to Montana including South Dakota.

She says not only is the legal action against the beef checkoff concerning but so is the affiliation of the firm representing R-CALF in the case.

Anderson says the beef checkoff has been a valuable program for cattle producers and is supported by most of them.

R-CALF won their case in Montana when a Judge approved an injunction forcing Montana cattlemen to file a form with the Montana Beef Council giving permission for checkoff funds to be used within the state.
